ZOOM: Impact investing in developing countries (KBF, 2021)

Impact investing is a growing activity, driven by investors who are not only interested in the financial return on their capital, but also want it to have an impact on society.

The King Baudouin Foundation, which seeks to strengthen individuals and organisations, closely follows innovative trends. In 2016 and again in 2019, we commissioned a mapping of Belgian impact investors in developing countries. A new study, ‘Study on Belgian Impact Investing for Development’, conducted by iPropeller, extends them with figures for the fiscal years 2018 and 2019.
By surveying 13 identified investors, it outlines the characteristics, trends and challenges of this sector in order to make these investors more accessible to policymakers and the general public. The good news is that players are working together and plan to do so more in the future, and some newcomers are joining the Belgian pioneers.

The aim is to repeat this study every two years.
