Akaboxi is the winner of the Prize D4D in the iStartUp category


[16.10.2020] Akaboxi is a digital financial inclusion system with a focus on women and youth in Uganda. They enable smallholder farmers to manage and monitor their savings together in their community. Akaboxi provides communities with a secure way of keeping savings. The savings are managed and monitored by use of Digitalized Financial Inclusion system to replace the rudimentary way of keeping money in boxes and in people’s homes.

The Prize D4D is a biennial initiative of the AfricaMuseum with the support of the Belgian Ministry for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid (DGD).

Earlier this year, Akaboxi received a loan from the OVO Acceleration Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation.
